Superfood…

These days people talk about “Superfood” a lot. Almost all the Hollywood stars eat superfood to keep them going with energy, counter the sometimes unavoidable bad ‘life style’ and anti-aging.

One of the ‘superfood’ which is very affordable is Chia Seeds. Chia seed is a versatile and nutrient-rich food that is gluten-free, subtle in flavour and easily digested. Its rich nutritional profile makes it a valuable addition to any diet, including vegetarians and vegans. People who are already on a healthy diet can still benefit from chia’s high Omega-3 content.

Chia seeds are powerful source of the antioxidants chlorogenic acid and caffeic acid as well as myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol flavonols that protect delicate essential fatty acids from oxidation. Unlike other sources of Omega-3 oils (e.g., flax, hemp, or fish), chia doesn’t require refrigeration or the artificial or natural added antioxidants such as vitamins in order to remain fresh. It has more antioxidants than blueberries. can you believe it? :)

I have been taking Chia seeds for a few months… hmm, at least mentally I feel great! haha

Wine? Skin care?

The website Smarterdailydeal is holding a competition to win $120 worth of wine, I just joined and this triggered me the thoughts around wine… We are so blessed with the great wines here in Australia. And they are great with high quality and cheap price! Being a wowan whol\ loves wine, I tried to find out how wine will help improve skin condition and health to rationalize my alcohol consumption.

Browsing through the internet, I found out that wine, especially red wine has many components that makes it so wonderful for skin! Resveratrol comes from the skin of grapes and is full of antioxidants, protecting the skin by neutralizing free radicals that harm the skin and aid in premature aging. Grapeseed extracts, alpha-hydroxy-acids, and phytoalexins in red wine combine and work together to help accelerate skin healing, improve circulation, strengthen, calm and soften the skin.

There are a lot of skin care products (like mask and moisturizer…) all include the extracts from red wine. A recent study claimed that using red wine for skincare and red wine body treatments have aromatherapy benefits through inhaling the scent of wine. Also the red wine also help to boost the memory, good for heart and help to maintain ideal weight…

Now I feel really good to have a glass or two at dinner with delicious food. :) Of course we have to understand there is always a limit to how much you drink. Moderate is the key.

“SPF” food, everything is easy… no wrinkles!

We all know that sun is the No.1 enemy for skin…biggest contributor for the wrinkles. So apart from applying SPF lotion every day, you can also eat some food which has natural SPF ability, such as V β against UV.

1. Yellow, Red color Fruit/Veggie –such as mango, papaya, tomato. And tomato is the best SPF food, cooked ones have better effect than eating raw.

2. Fruits with High Vitamin C– Such as kiwi fruit, strawberry and orange.

3. Soy bean which has (Isoflavones) has high antioxidant, great for keeping smooth, good skin tone.

4. green tea— if you drink 2 cups of green tea every day, you are set for all, it’s one of the highest anti-aging food among all.

So, eat/drink smart, we are keeping wrinkles further from us! :)

Potato is Great for you! Keep eating!

Coles potatos on discount, so I bought another 3kg bag, whole a lot.  :) I like them, boyfriend loves them, so everyone happy.

A friend of my was saying that I was slim hence I didn’t care that too much potato will make me fat, but I don’t really think so. Who said potato will make people fat? From the chips? Only when you eat too much and it contains too much oil.

I researched a bit and try to help potato to regain its fame.

1. Potato is very nutritious and help anti-aging.

Potato has rich VitaminB1、B2、B6 and much more like fibers, protein etc.  Someone who eat potato often are healthy and slow down the aging process.

2. Potato is natural beauty product

You know what? Potato can be used as natural beauty product! Fresh potato juice (I have never tried, but tempting) can be applied on face for whitening. Hence if you got sun burnt, getting darker and you can try the potato juice without side effect.

Also for the eye area. If you boil the potato and cut it into slices. put one slice on your eyes, it’s great to reduce the puffiness. Also cut the fresh potato slice to reduce wrinkles.

3. Potato is good for diet

My friend, and a lot of people think potato makes people fat.  In fact, you are wrong. Potato only contains 0.1% fat, it’s the lowest among all the filling food.  Of course, If you eat big bowl of potato chips every day, then I am questioning  your overall diet planning.

Potato has the magic, it makes fat people slimmer & skinner people gain a bit desired weight. Just eat them as main meal not side dish.

4. Potato is good for your mood

Most of us working 8 or more hours a day, facing a lot of pressure. It is so easy to get affected by the work and other trivia in life to feel depressed and feel negative.  Potato has rich Vitamin A and C, which is helpful to  change your mood to better.  haha, no wonder when I gulp the chips, I always feel happy! lol

Chewing gum help you to get rid of wrinkles…

I love chewing the gum… especially one after each meal, will keep the smell fresh and sometimes I even use them to wake me up…maybe that’s an excuse, maybe I would love that sweet taste… :) But I need to control how many gum I have, since I am afraid exercising too much of jaw bones get too big…haha

But you know what? US researcher has found out that if you chew the gum 15-20 min a day, after a few weeks, you will see that wrinkles on the face would diminish and your complexion becomes better. I really wish that works on me, then I have the reason to chew my gum whenever I want! ;)

Use lemon to get rid of wrinkles…

Finally, Sydney is not scorching hot anymore… phew!

Continue with last post. I read another article about using Lemon to help wrinkles. Great to know… I always think Lemon is only for whitening skin, etc. But it’s also very effective on anti wrinkles. :)

Again, not expensive, 100% natural— but you need to check if you are allergic to lemon or not. if not, then here you go–

Soak a cotton ball wіtһ lemon juice (οr tһе juice οf a lemon) аחԁ apply tο уουr face 2-3 times per day. Tһіѕ іѕ very effective аt fading skin blemishes, wrinkles, fine lines, аחԁ οtһеr signs οf aging, i.e. ԁаrk circles.

Apply a mixture οf lemon аחԁ milk cream οח уουr forehead аftеr washing уουr face wіtһ lukewarm water. Allow tһе mixture tο dry аחԁ absorb well іחtο уουr skin (аbουt 30mins). Tһеח wash wіtһ normal cleanser. Tһіѕ іѕ one οf tһе best home remedies fοr removing forehead wrinkles. Yου са also skip tһе milk cream іf уου don’t һаνе іt.

Mix together one teaspoon οf honey аחԁ one teaspoon οf lemon juice. Massage уουr face, arms, аחԁ hands, wherever wrinkles аrе present. Dο tһіѕ fοr approximately one month аחԁ watch аѕ tһе wrinkles disappear…

Home-made Lemon skin care- Refreshing!

I have had freckles when I was young. At that time, people around me sometimes friendly joked that I was cute with those. But I knew they kinda of saying it didn’t look good, however since you were just little, not too bad. Now I live in Australia and the sun is strong all year round, famous with the UV rays here. I kinda of give up on thinking about my freckles.

Yesterday I went to do facial, the beauty therapist reminded me on it. She said i should use Vc products which is great for whitening and getting rid of freckles. This gave me a urge to look into something about VC. I googled a few sites and collect some info. would love to share with you here—-


Do you know that women have used lemons to cleanse, tone and condition their skin for centuries?. As a natural antioxidant Lemon combat the signs of aging by helping to stimulate collagen production. The cosmetics industry uses lemons to produce a range of skin care preparations, but they are expensive. We can make lemon rich cosmetics at home cheaply and easily using items from our kitchen store cupboard. :)

Facial Scrub:
Mix together equal parts of lemon juice, oatmeal and honey. Add water until it becomes a runny paste. Store this gentle cleanser in the fridge and used every day. To use just take a small amount in the palm and moisten with a little warm water. Rub your hands together until evenly distributed, scrub your hands gently over your face paying attention to the creases at the sides of your nose and mouth or any oily patches (T-zone). When finished use the excess to scrub the backs of your hand, then rinse your face and hands with plenty of warm water. Pat dry with a soft towel or tissue. How simple is that?! You can also use it as body scrub if you like.

Lemon toner
Take two tablespoons of lemon juice, one tablespoon of vodka, one tablespoon of witch hazel and two tablespoons of water. Pour into a bottle and shake well, store in the fridge and use as needed. Apply to skin with a cotton wool pad and leave for three to five minutes. Rinse the face with warm water and pat dry with a towel. Do not use on damaged skin as it will sting.

Moisturizer
Blend together equal amounts of honey, lemon juice and oil. Sweet almond oil is a nice luxury but you don’t need to use it olive oil is fine. Put into a bottle and shake until all ingredients have blended together. Dab on face and neck with cotton ball, use the tips of your finger to massage into skin in small upwards circular movements. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with soft towel.

Mask
Squeeze a lemon into a cup of warm milk and stand till curdled. Put two tablespoons of oatmeal and a tablespoon of oil into a bowl and add the curdled milk, stir well. The mixture must runny enough to spread on the skin but not too runny that it slides off. Smear on your face, neck, hands, legs and feet and leave for half an hour. Rub excess off with clean towel and shower or bathe in usual way. This mask will improve pimples and the overall condition of your skin. Use this preparation to soften the skin on cracked heels and aid healing.

So tempting, eh? You can choose to use organic lemons as well since those will be applied on your skin…

Blueberry- I want real deal for skin care and health…

I ate cereal + yogurt + blueberry + almond this morning, very healthy. When I got to work, I read an article about the research has found that many “blueberry” cereals, pastries, bagels, breads and bars are not made with real blueberries at all! Which was a shock for me (was it really? anything in these days would really be called a shock?) Instead, the blueberries are faked using artificial colors partially-hydrogenated oils and liquid sugars like High Fructose Corn Syrup

I feel really bad of reading and watching this. and I feel sad too. When it comes to commercial benefit, how many companies/corporations will really care about people’s health? Especially think about people who really want to provide health to the ones they love? We buy Blueberry products– which supposed to be full of anti-oxidant, which should help our skin and health, but in reality we are actually buying artificial coloring chemicals, some of which have been linked to an increased risk of ADHD symptoms.

In the time of Flood…

Queensland Flood has been a real disaster, many of my friends, family living in Brisbane have moved out of their houses. Everyone prays for the rain to stop, people stay safe and things get back to normal. I will pray the same thing for them, and may God hear our words and turn things around.

Again, the flood brings a lot of consequences. A number of water or sewer systems have been or will be disrupted, dangerous substances can be released into the water supply, so residence in those area have to be cautious, if possible reserve some clean water at the place you stay and store enough wet towel or similar to wipe face, hands, body. stay clean and sanitised.  Keep the diet simple and light, take multi-vitamins everyday to prevent nutrition shortfall.

I pray and truly believe people in Queensland will go through this very soon and the rest of Australia and the whole world has been providing support and love to you!  We are here together!

Apple, ah Apple

“An apple a day keeps the doctors away.” Yeah, right, Apple is a great fruit — Full of VC, VE, antioxidant, good for nourishing skin, reduce wrinkles and other skin diseases; its high-calcium can help body to lower cholesterol.

One friend of mine tried only eating apples for 10 days to lose weight after she gave birth to her daughter. Painful, but it worked.

I like apple, although it is not my favourite fruit, but I feel healthy when I eat them.

A few tips I collected over years for your attention–

Apple seed: Grape seeds are great for skin, but not apple seeds. They contain small amount of Hydrocyanic acid, which can cause headache, fainting if accumulates. So please leave them alone while you munching the apple.

Eating speed: Not too fast. sometimes I ate apple when I was really hungry, I could finish one big apple in 2 mins without fully chewing. Then I felt uncomfortable afterwords.  We need to chew apple slowly and get the saliva to help digest in your stomach. Some article says you need 10 mins to finish an apple, I think that’s a bit too much. Maybe 5-6 mins will make more sense.

“Rusty” apple?: Sometimes we might can’t finish one big apple,  just leave it there  and get back to it later. The apple then became “rusty” with yellow colour on the surface, it was oxidized by air. Actually, Although it doesn’t look good or taste great anymore, the nutrition still there, if you don’t mind, it is still edible.

Apple skin: We normally just use napkin to wipe the apple or water to rinse a bit before eating. In fact, farmers use a lot of pesticide to keep the pests away. So it will be better to peel the skin.
